i shall weep no more

A simple word
A naughty smile
And the pain sears through
Images flash across
Your smile vivid as if real
My chest tightens
Tears stingingly threaten
Yet I shall weep no more

A moment of silence
Memories flood through
The sight of loved ones
And down memory lane I roll
A beautiful love song
It further shatters the already small bits
My broken heart bleeds
Yet I shall weep no more

A moment you were there
The next you were gone
A short bitter-sweet moment
Yet it lingers forever
With memories enveloping it
The tears threaten again
But I shall weep no more

a worthless friend

A moment she was here
The next she was gone
Gone off, flown off
For another flower suddenly seemed more beautiful
Always on the move when the need arises
Like a butterfly she is
A worthless friend

You laugh
And she flies at high speed to you
You eat
And she declares unending love for you
You are well
And she claims to be the best you will ever get
But the moment you cry
Off she goes
To the one who laughs like you did
You hunger
And she scurries off
To one who eats like you ate
You are ill
And she vows she has never seen you before
Undecided, insincere
Like a butterfly she is
A worthless friend

Her life is a journey
From one flower to the next
In search of the one with the sweetest nectar
But alas her journey never ends
Her hunger never sated
And so she travels on
To far off lands
Indeed a worthless friend

to her dream love

The cold morning air sifts through the window
Carrying with it a scent of new life
Freshness, hope, vitality
It’s a new day
With it comes a still hope
That sweet as your dreams may be
I was at the centre of them
But its only a dream
I hope which someday will come true

As limbs slowly co-ordinate
In preparation for the challenge awaiting
The mind is already in full force
Wondering whether you are awake yet
Or still entangled in the web of dreamland
In which I hope I am the princess
While you are the prince

I progress in the day
Stopping at regular intervals
To smile at myself
When I think of your eyes, your smile
Anticipating dusk
So I can hurry back to sleep
And see your beloved face once again.

lovely words

Like a creeper lovingly entwines itself
To the steady tree
So do lovely words
As they cling to the heart
And blossom and bloom
Ever green and full of life

They reflect in the twinkle of the eye
In the warmth of a smile
And like sunbeams in winter
Warm those around
Bringing joy, celebrating the goodness of life

Like plants they are cultivated
And watered tenderly
In order to bring forth fruit
For the heart
Fruit that will benefit all and sundry
Giving nutrition and life to everyone

Lovely words run deep
And are embedded in the heart’s core
They strike a chord deep within
And release a melody oh so sweet.

I woke up with a smile on my lips
A bit weird but when I remembered the reason
The smile widened
I thought of the beauties of life
And gifts from providence
And I realized that among the things that matter most
You were on among the top list

Its never easy to trust someone
Because half the time the trust goes down the drain
But once in a while you meet someone
With whom you can actually talk
And feel the warmth of friendship
I found that someone in you

What I treasure most
Is our compatibility of character
You seem to know me so well
And understand even the unsaid
We agree to disagree
And it seems we are telepathically connected
I thank the Lord for meeting you
And I hope between us
We can use the word : FOREVER

Disillusionment

For a moment I was enthralled
Hypnotized and overwhelmed
A figment of my imagination
Had materialized in flesh and blood
I saw the ideal
I wanted the ideal
I went after it

For a while I was enchanted
Drinking in and absorbing
Intelligence such I had never seen
Suaveness such as I had never experienced
I was captured
I was swept off my feet
Surely I had struck gold

But alas the moment passed
As slowly I peeled the layers
Sharp juice stung my eyes
I had not found my prince of the golden lance
Disappointment flooded in

For a moment I was disheartened
Heartbroken and dejected
How could a stone shine so
Like a freshly cut diamond
And yet inside be so hollow and worthless
You were not worth the tears
So they dried before the touched my cheek.

the large tree flows out
with its long brances spilling over
it gives a very large shade
cool and even
offered by the large green leaves
the branches bow down
as if humbly offering its fruit
like Eve in the garden of Eden
i gingerly pick at the fruit
i pick only the biggest, blackest succulent fruit
and hold it between my teeth by the nip
then close my eyes as the deep purple juice
gushes into my mouth
ah sweet mulberry fruit!

A moment before dusk

The air is cool, sweet, refreshing
The dying rays of the sun
Throw sharp arrows at the trees
Whose leaves glisten with tiny drops
A reminder of the rain passed
The birds chirp happily
Nonchalantly and carefree
It’s a moment before dusk
A precious, quiet moment

I sit here alone yet not lonely
I am enveloped by the sweet atmosphere
Content to just sit and gaze
Hear and feel
Watch and absorb
My heart is at peace
Content and joyful
As I watch the sun blinking its last
It’s a moment before dusk
A precious moment to be treasured

Nature, me

Watch the moon
It smiles
Capture the sun
It laughs
Study the stars
They dance
Taste the air
It’s sweet

Smile with me
I love you
Laugh with me
I care for you
Dance with me
I am happy
Kiss me
I am sweet

Nature laughs
She smiles
She dances
Surely I being her offspring
Can do better
And be your sunshine
Your moon
Your shining star

The pieces

I gather the scattered pieces
But they keep slipping through my fingers
And scattering back to the floor
Each time I bend down to gather them again
I am mesmerized by a piece in particular
And I spend moments just contemplating it
Before again I scoop the pieces into my arms
And armful of priceless pieces
Yet they just roll back to the dust
And the dust accumulates on me each time I pick them up
Will the cycle ever end?
For each time my eye darts to the clock
Counting seconds
So the gathering and scattering becomes more like a game
But at what price?
At whose expense?
The answers to these questions I know
But to voice them out would be to accept defeat
For in essence the reins are in my hands
Though I refuse to apply the pressure
And my foot resists the urge to strike the spur.

Untitled 3

Futile endless groping in the dark
As mine mind seeks to place the time
Place, condition, situation
That my smile first met and answering one from you
That my first met and held yours in a gaze

Two independent, free, wild spirits
Energy flowing to equilibrium
I fail to explain the link
But then again why attempt to catch the breeze
When it seductively soaks mine heart with contentment

Distance attempted a trick
But it bowed down in shame
Time occasionally tries its luck
But that which links our two hearts
Proves stronger than anything else

Doubt not me then
For as long as feeling exists in mine breast
Thou shall forever lie within it

I admire the sun
For its great impartiality
For its hines upon the rich and the poor alike
Upon the happy and the unhappy alike
Stuck up in the blanket that’s the sky
That envelopes the beautiful and the ugly alike
Who can ever have a heart so big
To accommodate the children of nature
So heartily, so freely
Like the members that form the big bright sky!

I tried really hard
To find the exact words
The correct expression, the perfect tone
That would really express
My inner thoughts
The strength, the glow the intensity with which I feel
I feel so much yet express little
Because I cannot really find
That soul whose inner thoughts
Would match mine
Who would be bonded to me
So much that our thoughts run along the same path
I have tried really hard
But all my efforts are in vain

I love you

I will not shower you
With meaningless words
For I might be tempted
To say what I do not mean
I shall not quote for you a song
For that was written
By someone who loved someone else
What I will tell you however
It’s all been said before
At times by people who do not mean it
But this comes from deep down
And its all I have to say to you
I love you
And hope you believe me

Upon the Closing of a day

The African sun blinks its last
Before calling it a day
Leaving in its farewell
A trail of silhouetted shadows
Giving rise to a chill in the air
Together with the sweet aroma of the tiger lilies

The sky is like one blanket
Patched a little in places
By small clouds
That look like islands
In the ocean that is the sky
The last little bird flies home to roost
A quiet and tranquil moment

The chrysanthemums close their petals reluctantly
To settle for the night
The little rock rabbits crawl slowly
To the comfort of home
While the cunning owl prepares to wake up
Its magic, pure magic
Such is what happens
Upon the closing of the day.

If I could tell you

The moments I have spent alone
The times I have taken alone
To ponder, and really think
The thoughts of you I have had
If I could tell you
Then maybe you would know
Of the feelings that remain buried within

If I could tell you
How your smile brings tears to my eyes
If I could tell you
How much talking to you makes me happy
Then maybe you would smile more often
Maybe you would talk to me more often
For if I could tell you what’s in my heart
Then maybe you would never be able to sleep

But I cannot tell you
For you are far beyond my reach
If I could tell you with my eyes
They would serenade a song
If I could tell you with just a touch
It would recite a sonnet
Oh how I wish
I could just tell you
Of the love that is burning deep in my heart

I want it all

When the sun fades
And darkness creeps through
I want to have your arms around me
Assuring me of security
When the rain falls
And clouds cover the sky
I want to be sheltered
In the warmth of your love

When I trip and stumble
And every road is an obstacle
I want the comfort of your hand
To help me climb over
When I am weary and weak
And every moves seems a battle
I want you to carry me
Surely to the next battle

I want your love, your caring
I want your happiness, your smile
I want your tears, your pain
I want your dreams, your aspirations
I want only a promise from you that when you give
You give it all to me

How do I love you?

I love you
Not with a love
Laden with heavy but empty promises
I love you
Not because you have money
Nor because you are good looking
I love you
Not with a string of complications
Nor with untrue commitments
But I love you
With a love true and honest
Simple, sweet, true
With a love that is real
Simply because you are YOU!
